Winking eye glasses

Question:

What is the Better Giving initiative?

Answer:

The Better Giving initiative is our response to the COVID-19 crisis. Our law firm launched at the beginning of March, just weeks before California was ordered to shelter in place. We jumped into action by providing resource guides to the public and counseling our clients via phone and Zoom, helping them navigate such a difficult and uncertain time.

Now, almost two months later, things are still difficult and uncertain in many ways, but we’re all adjusting to the new “normal” as best we can. We’re proud to see how many of our incredible clients have pivoted to continue to serve their bases, and that really inspired us to think about how we could pivot, too. So we took a step back to think, and that’s when we came up with Better Giving.

Through this initiative, for every client that completes a Better Giving-designated project, we will donate a portion of the profits from that project to one of three nonprofit organizations that our team has curated.

The idea was that, with this new influx of new (mostly online) business models comes new legal needs for businesses. Of course, we’re always happy to help our clients meet new those needs, but we knew we could do better. So, for the foreseeable future, we’ll be offering specific packages and projects that will not only set our clients up for success, but also give back to nonprofits.

Currently, our Better Giving projects are:

• Client Services Agreements

• Commercial Co-Venture

• Registration + Agreement Package

• Basic Website Privacy Policy + Terms of Service

• Clickwrap Agreements

• Sweepstakes Rules +Contest Compliance

• Trademark Licenses

When you ask for one of these projects, we’ll send you a proposal with the pricing included and a quick blurb about all three of the nonprofits we’ve chosen for the initiative. We’ll ask you to sign off on the proposal and check off which nonprofit you’d like us to donate a portion of the profits to. It’s that easy.

Through the Better Giving initiative, we hope to be able to further support nonprofits and our community during the COVID-19 crisis. After all, we’re better when we stick together.
